The number of people who have died after testing positive for the virus in Oxfordshire has now reached 660.

The last time when the county recorded no deaths was on December 14.

Public Health England confirmed that the UK has recorded a further 373 Covid-related deaths in the latest reporting period and 15,845 new positive cases, however, figures released on Sundays tend to be lower because of reporting delays over the weekend.

The Government figures include confirmed cases only as some people who have the virus are not tested.

The UK’s coronavirus reproduction number known as R, which estimates the growth rate of the pandemic, is currently between -5 per cent and -2 per cent, as of Friday.

This means that the number of new infections is shrinking.
