FIVE people have died in Oxfordshire after getting positive test results for coronavirus

According to Public Health England, two people have died in Oxford, two people in Cherwell and one person in the Vale of White Horse.

Separate NHS data revealed that there had been no new deaths at hospitals in Oxfordshire which means the victims of the virus died at home, a care home or hospice. 

In a daily update, Public Health England has also revealed that there were 114 new coronavirus cases in Oxfordshire yesterday. 

These were the latest cases: 

• Oxford – 41
• South Oxfordshire – 23
• West Oxfordshire – 9
• Cherwell – 27
Vale of White Horse – 14
• Oxfordshire – 114 
• South East – 1,775
• England - 13,299

Across the UK, the number of recorded cases increased by 15,144 over the period, to 4,013,799.

At Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundations Trust (the trust responsible for the John Radcliffe, Churchill, Nuffield and Horton hospitals) 12 patients were admitted to hospitals yesterday, bringing the total number of people who have tested positive in hospital currently to 164.

Of those, 27 on ventilation. 

At Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust, no patients were admitted to community or mental health hospitals yesterday with the virus. 
The total number of positive patients stands at 10. 

Of those, none are on ventilation. 

The rate of infection in Oxfordshire now stands at 4,477 cases per 100,000 people, lower than the England average of 6,248.
