CHARLIE Bishop paid tribute to ‘unbelievable’ Eve Johnson Houghton following an emotional victory on Chipotle at Royal Ascot.

The two-year-old gave the Blewbury trainer her second win at the prestigious meeting, taking the Listed Windsor Castle Stakes in impressive fashion.

Starting at 22-1, Chipotle travelled at the rear of the group on the far side of the track, striking late to pick off his rivals.

It sparked emotional scenes, with Johnson Houghton in tears as she watched on.

But the triumph also continued a successful partnership for the Oxfordshire trainer and jockey Bishop at Royal Ascot.

The pair claimed their first wins at the meeting and also at Group 1 level in 2018, when Accidental Agent – the horse nobody wanted to buy at the sales – took victory in the Queen Anne Stakes.

And Bishop felt Johnson Houghton deserved the plaudits following their latest success.

“A lot of credit to the trainer, I’d say,” he said.

“I’ve only had two winners here and they’ve both been hers, she’s unbelievable.

“We were very disappointed at Sandown, we thought he was very good and the ground just completely blunted his turn of foot.

“No excuses this time, he showed he was the best horse in the race.

“It’s not very often you get a run like that at the Royal meeting, I had the horse to go for the gaps.

“They weren’t very big, he was very brave.”
