Henley Rugby Club’s appeal for the wife and young son of Dave Hyde now stands at over £66,000.
It has been so successful the club have decided to raise the target.
They wrote on the GoFundMe page: “48 hours in and to have raised close to £50k is just remarkable. We are totally blown away by the response to this page and incredibly grateful to everyone who has donated so far and shared the link.
“With another target close to being smashed, we are now moving the bar even higher, to £75k.
“This fund will be so important to Katherine and Tore so please continue to share far and wide. We know we can do this.
“A huge thank you from everyone at Henley RFC.”
Mr Hyde, 29, a former Witney player, collapsed and died on September 4 after a match for the Henley Hawks.
