Henley Rugby Club’s appeal for the wife and young son of Dave Hyde now stands at almost £87,000.
Second-row forward Dave, 29, collapsed and died at the JR on September 4 after a match for the Henley Hawks.
The former Witney Rugby Club player had only married his wife Katherine three weeks before his death and the couple had a young son, Tore.
Henley Rugby Club described him as "a gentle giant and strong family man".
The appeal said: "He epitomised loyalty, friendship, trust and sacrifice, all the qualities that made him a true asset to Henley as a player, but more importantly a true friend, brother, son, husband and father."
It adds: "If you are able to donate anything, regardless of the amount, we will be incredibly grateful."
