As Blue Monday approaches - the third Monday in January - voco Oxford Spires on Abingdon Road is offering an escape to its hotel to help people banish those blues.

People are invited to nominate themselves for the stay, explaining why they deserve the chance to enjoy a deluxe room worth £500.
The stay will also include a complimentary dinner where the menu is full of seasonal dishes made from local produce.
Wendy Procter, general manager of the hotel, said: “We want to turn Blue Monday into a much more enjoyable day. The entire country has had to endure a lot of blue Mondays over the past couple of years and if we can help our locals escape that for just one night then we will."
The lucky winner can also be joined with a person of their choice and enjoy breakfast the next morning at the hotel.

You can nominate yourself by emailing wendy.procter@ihg.com by Thursday, explaining why you deserve the night away, in no more than 200 words.
The winning nomination will be chosen at random by the hotel team.
