Three people have been handed fines by an Oxford court after being found guilty in cases related to a dangerous dog.

On December 15, 2021, George Collett, 33, from Filed Close, Stonesfied, Witney, appeared at Oxford Magistrates' Court where he was charged a total of £519 after he has found guilt of having a dog dangerously out of control in Pendle Court, Stonesfied.

The court heard that on June 30, 2020, Freya - described as a Caucasian Shepard dog or Russian Ofcharka, injured Keith Sollis when out of control.

Collett was ordered to pay victim compensation of £300, fined £100, and to pay costs of £34.

On the same court date, Julian Dore, 44, from Longore, Stonesfield, was also fined £519 under the Dangerous Dog Act 1991, and was ordered to pay victim compensation of £300 and pay costs of £34 for Freya’s actions committed June 30.

Magistrates warned that the dangerous dog must be kept under control, or it will be destroyed.

On a separate case, Zahid Riasat, 51, from Outram, Oxford, admitted that on April 29, 2021, he had in his custody a fighting dog breed.

Riasat appeared at Oxford Magistrates' Court on September 17, 2021, where he was charged, under the Dangerous Dog Act 1991, a total of £334.

The court warned that unless Chopper, an American Pitbull Terrier was kept under proper control, this included being microchipped, neutered, muzzled and on a lead when in public among other conditions, it must be destroyed.

Riasat was fined £150, and ordered to pay a surcharge to victim services of £34, as well as costs of £150 to the Crown Prosecution Service.
