A care home which has been derelict for six years is “prime real estate” for housing, a county councillor has said.

At Oxfordshire County Council’s full council meeting on Tuesday, Independent councillor Stefan Gawrysiak stated Chiltern’s End on Greys Road is in an area “crying out for housing”.

Mr Gawrysiak asked Councillor Calum Miller, cabinet member for finance, if it is still in the Henley and Harpsden neighbourhood plan for housing and if there is a timeline for developing it.

Mr Miller shared Mr Gawrysiak’s “frustration” about its state of disrepair.

He said: “Officers at my request are currently gathering that overview and that will be completed by August of this year and that will place us in a position to address issues like the one you have raised.”
