An Oxford law firm is just one of the teams on its way to Le Touquet as part of the Twin Town Challenge charity car rally event.

The team from Penningtons Manches Cooper’s Oxford office taking part in this year’s challenge is made up of family partner Ruth James and senior associate Eleanor Moodey, corporate tax partner Kathy Hills, commercial dispute resolution senior associate Charlie Shillito and private client case manager Mark Baker.

They have worked with local primary school St Ebbe’s, where pupils entered a competition to design graphics representing the shared values of the school and the firm for the car.

The winning designs were created by Jo of Darling Class, Lulu of Congo Class, Madia of Seine Class, Laurence of Thames Class, Leila of Limpopo Class, Manon of Amazon Class, and Freya, Amelie and Emily of Haro Class.

Ruth James said: “Our team is delighted to be taking part in the Twin Town Challenge this year. It’s a fantastic event with many local organisations coming together to support a worthy cause. We hope to make a difference by contributing to the fundraising total and to have some fun along the way!”

Some 120 cars costing less than £500 set off for Witney’s twin town for a weekend of points-based challenges with the aim of raising £1.25million by their return on Bank Holiday Monday.

The theme for the Covid-delayed Twin Town 2020+2 is Battle of the Bands.

The challenge has already raised £1million for Charlbury-based SpecialEffect - a gaming charity that supports disabled people - even before the event takes place.
