Her statement reads: “Apologies for being so quiet on here over the past six months. Due to significant personal reasons and needing to focus all of my energies on my family I have decided to step down as Leader of Witney Town Council.

“I'm extremely proud of our achievements as a Town Council on so many levels. I became leader during a particularly difficult time, but  - with the understanding that leadership means fostering the best in everyone, focusing on solutions not problems, and providing a platform to lift others - we have made a big difference.

“It does however, come with a personal sacrifice that I can no longer offer and it is right that I step down and make space for those who can.

“I wish all the best to the wonderful Vicky Gwatkin and Joy Aitman who will smash it as the new leadership team, alongside our our heart-soaring colleagues.

“I'm so grateful for the trust and support I've been graced with from our community over the past few years. There really are no words to describe it.

“Thank you”
