Photographers from across the county have snapped a series of amazing pictures of the strawberry moon.

June’s full moon, the strawberry moon, appeared in the sky last night (June 14) and into the early hours of this morning.

Pictures taken by Oxford Mail Camera Club members show the moon in incredible detail.

The moon’s name in June is nothing to do with its colour but instead it supposedly came from the fact it signalled the ripening of wild strawberries, ready for people to pick.

This full moon is also a super moon, meaning its orbit is closest at the same time it is in its full phase.

The next full moon will be on July 13 and is called the Buck Moon.
