New food hygiene ratings have been handed to restaurants, takeaways, and cafes in Oxfordshire.

Following recent council inspections restaurants across the county have been given a rating between one and five.

What do the numbers mean?

0 – urgent improvement necessary

1 – major improvements necessary

2 – improvements necessary

3 – business generally satisfactory

4 – business good on assessment

5 – business seen as very good

These are the latest food hygiene results for ten restaurants and cafes in the county, according to the Scores on the Doors website on June 22, 2022.

  • Taylors sandwich shop on 19 High Street, Oxford received top marks with a five-star food hygiene rating from Oxford City Council inspectors on May 24.
  • Cotswolds Hotel and Spa in Chipping Norton received a five-star food hygiene rating from West Oxfordshire District Council on May 24. It has had this high score since 2018.
  •  Crompton’s restaurant on 20 Sheep Street in Bicester was given a five-star food hygiene rating by Cherwell District Council on May 25.
  • Peking Chef sandwich shop on 2 Edington Square in Witney was handed a five- star food hygiene rating by inspectors from West Oxfordshire District Council on May 26. It has had this high score since 2017.
  • Temptations Dessert Lounge on 231 Banbury Road in Oxford was given a five-star rating by Oxford City Council on May 26.
  • The Wychwood Golf Club at Lyneham in Chipping Norton received a five-star rating from West Oxfordshire District Council on May 27. It has had this high score since 2014.

  • Costa Coffee at Moto Hospitality, Cherwell Valley Services Junction 10 M40 in Stoke Lyne, received a five-star rating on May 31, from Cherwell District Council.
  • Domino’s Pizza on 11 South Bar Street in Banbury was given a five-star food hygiene rating by Cherwell District Council on May 31. It has had this high score since 2014.
  • Belota at the Blavatnik School of Government on 120 Walton Street was given a five-star rating by Oxford City Council on June 21.
  • The Oxford Trust was handed top marks with a five-star food hygiene rating from Oxford City Council on June 9.
