A new £33.5 million housing development will see more than 200 homes built across a four and half year period.

United Living Group, a infrastructure, housing and property service, secured the multi-million pound contract to deliver new residential homes in Milestone Road, Carterton.

The development will see more than 200 homes constructed during the next four and a half years, with a mix of two, three and four bedroom houses and apartments available across the shared ownership, rent to buy, affordable rent and social rent space.

The developer has said the scheme will ‘significantly benefit’ the local community by providing affordable housing and further extending the area’s housing supply.

As part of its statutory section 106 payment, the developer will make a £1.2 million payment to Oxfordshire County Council £600,000 to West Oxfordshire District Council.

Section 106 agreements are legal agreements between local authorities and developers, linked to planning permissions.

The agreements are drafted when it is considered a development will have significant impacts on the local area which cannot be moderated by the planning decision, such as increased social and physical pressure.

The agreement aims to balance the pressure created by the new development with improvements to the surrounding area, ensuring where possible the development makes a positive contribution to the local community.

United Living Group was awarded the contract by Platform Housing Group, one of the largest affordable housing developers in the Midlands.

The infrastructure, housing and property service has already undertook a development in Witney for Platform Housing Group.
