New food hygiene ratings have been awarded to two of West Oxfordshire’s eating establishments, the Food Standards Agency’s website shows.
And it’s good news for them both.
The Hand And Shears at Church Road, Church Hanborough, Witney, was handed a five-out-of-five rating after assessment on June 6.
The beautiful Cotswolds country pub dates back to the 1700s and is run by head chef Patrick Moore and his partner Sally.
It serves "lovingly prepared, fresh food" made up of pub classics and the couple's own favourite meals alongside cask ales, draught, wine and soft drinks.

Midway between Witney, Eynsham and Woodstock, its traditional front bar and lower, spacious, conservatory restaurant were renovated in 2021 to embrace the historic pub's 1775 heritage.
And Costa Coffee at 9 Burford Road in Carterton was also given a score of five on May 31.
Five is top of the scale and means the hygiene standards are very good and fully comply with the law.
