Former Carlisle United midfielder Elliot Watt is looking for a new club after confirming he is leaving Salford City.

The ex-Blues loan man has announced he is moving on from the League Two club.

Watt has been with the Ammies for the last two years.

But he will not be renewing his contract at the Peninsula Stadium after Salford's 20th-placed finish in 2023/24.

Watt, in a social media post, said it was the "end of the Salford chapter" for him.

He said he had enjoyed his time at the club, including a spell as captain.

"Wish the club all the best going forward but now is the right time for something new," the 24-year-old added.

Watt made 91 appearances for Salford after moving from Bradford City in the summer of 2022.

He was named in League Two's team of the season in 2022/23, a campaign when Salford reached the play-off semi-finals.

"Thank you for everything you’ve contributed at the club Elliot, and we wish you all the best for the future," Salford said in a statement.

Watt was on loan at Carlisle from Wolverhampton Wanderers in the 2019/20 season, making 14 appearances in the Covid-shortened League Two season.

He had a controversial encounter with the Cumbrians in 2023's promotion race, his reaction to a Jon Mellish shove leading to a red card for the Blues defender in a 3-2 defeat to the Ammies.

Meanwhile in League Two, Notts County have given ex-United striker Cedwyn Scott another year.

The Magpies said they have exercised an option in the forward's contract to keep him at the club for the 2024/25 campaign.
