A longstanding toy retailer has announced its store is closed until further notice.

A sign on the door of Toy Galaxy/Dentons Cycles in Witney High Street said: "To all our valued customers, please be advised that our store is temporarily closed.

"We appreciate your patience and understanding."

Reacting to the news on Facebook, customers said they believed the closure was permanent as they had already seen 'Everything must go' signs.

One shopper said: "Aww this is really sad. I hope they manage to open back up."

Another said: "This is so sad if it doesn’t open again. It was lovely for children."

A third added: "Such a shame that it has gone this way."

The shop described as "Witney's oldest toy and cycles shop" is part of the Toy Galaxy chain which also has stores in Watford, Ealing and Hatfield.

The Oxford Mail has contacted Toy Galaxy for comment.
