A glitch that was affecting people's experience of viewing Instagram Stories now has a way to be fixed.

The problem appeared to be that people were having to re-watch all of someone’s Stories before they were able to see new ones.

Instagram was forgetting where you had left off when viewing someone’s Stories, showing them from the beginning when someone uploaded a new story.

For example, if one of your friends had posted five separate stories that you had already looked at, then if they posted another one you would have to watch from the beginning.

It is unclear how many users of the service were affected by this problem.

One user tweeted at the time: "rewatching Instagram stories over and over again is my personal hell.

Another put: "Can Instagram stories stop glitching I’m tired of watching the same stories 47,000 times."

How to fix the Instagram Stories glitch

A way to fix the problem is to make sure you have the latest version of the app downloaded, which you can check by finding Instagram on your relevant app store.

As reported by Metro the newest version of the app is 239.1, an update released on Wednesday, June 15, says this version "contains bug fixes and performance improvements."

Some social media users have posted online that this has worked for them, and they can now view stories as normal.
