SHANROE In Milan opened his account for Chipping Norton trainer Charlie Longsdon with a tenacious performance at Doncaster.

The six-year-old gelding outpointed Bako De La Saulaie by half a length after a terrific tussle in a three-mile handicap chase under Brian Hughes.

The winning jockey reported: “There was a faller at the last ditch.

“My horse took his eye off it and kicked the fence out of the ground.

“It took the wind out of him at the wrong time.

“The second horse will win plenty of races and the loose horse wasn’t a help on the run-in.”

Iley Boy made it three wins from his last four starts for Chastleton owner-trainer John Gallagher with a narrow success at Kempton.

Ben Curtis sent the four-year-old into the lead in the final furlong of a mile-and-a-half handicap, and held on by a neck.
