THERE were mixed fortunes for Witney Ladies in their South Clubs League Division 2 double-header over the weekend.

After a 4-2 victory at home to East Grinstead on Saturday, they lost 3-0 to Hampstead & Westminster 2nd.

First-half goals from Sunny Wallis and Ellie Noton put Witney in charge against their Sussex opponents.

Although East Grinstead scored twice after the break, the hosts stayed ahead thanks to Wallis’s second goal and a late effort from Helen Backhouse.

On Sunday, Witney struggled on the big pitch at the Olympic Park National Hockey Centre and trailed 2-0 at half-time.

After some straight talking from coach Chris Boyle, The visitors won a series of corners in the second half, but could not convert and Hampstead added a third goal.

Oxford completed two wins in Division 3A.

On Saturday, they came from behind to win 2-1 at Marlow, who led 1-0 at half-time.

Floor Timmer equalised, and after some great saves from Louise Kay, Oxford’s Rachel Lammey hit the winner.

The following day, Oxford won 5-3 against Wycombe.

Oxford fought back from 1-0 down to lead 4-1 at the break thanks to goals from Olivia Strickland (2), Timmer and Carlijn Ten Heggeler.

Kim Warman added their fifth before Wycombe scored two late strikes.

Oxford Hawks lost 3-0 at Swansea in their first Investec Conference West match of 2018.

Under pressure from the start Hawks defended well, with Caro Harris and Lex Thomas dominating at the back.

The Welsh hosts took a 2-0 interval lead with a couple of deflected goals.

In the second half, the home keeper blocked efforts from Catherine Reaney and Katie Lowe, before Swansea netted a breakaway goal.

Bicester stay three points clear in Division 1 of the Trysports Three Counties League with a 1-1 draw at Marlow 3rd.

Beatrice Gunn’s penalty stroke gave the visitors a half-time lead, but Marlow equalised just before the end.
