NEAL Ardley admits AFC Wimbledon have put pressure on themselves following a poor start to the season.

Their meeting with Oxford United tomorrow will be one where both sides are desperate for a win to kick-start their season.

The Dons have lost seven of their last nine games.

“You don’t want to get 15 games in and, like last season, be in a fight down there,” Ardley told the club’s website:

“We have put a lot of pressure on ourselves, we don’t need any more.

“We have to absolutely make sure that we are doing the right things every week.

“If we do that we believe the qualities are there for it to turn.”

Ardley will celebrate six years in charge next month, making him the third longest-serving manager in the top four divisions.

But he knows the buck stops with him.

He said: “I am the one who has to get the players playing the way that they need to play to win games of football.

“We can’t keep being unlucky – we didn’t get a penalty, we didn’t get this, or get that.

“We can’t keep playing well and not winning or playing poorly and then trying to get back in it.”
