MICHAEL Knox, who has been on the Oxford Mail sports desk for more than 30 years, retires today.
Knox, 67, who joined the paper from the Bucks Free Press in 1984, covered cricket and rugby union – including Varsity Matches at Twickenham – before becoming sports editor between 2004-2006.
Since then, he has been weeklies’ sports editor for the newspaper group.
“I’ve been very lucky doing a job I’ve loved for so many years and working with so many talented people,” he said.
“Now I will have time to try to get my golf handicap down and umpire more cricket matches.”
