ANDY Watts scored a hat-trick as Oxford Hawks made a winning return to the Men’s National League when beating Fareham 5-2 at home in Conference West.

The side had not played at the level for 11 years, but a Jack Biggs penalty stroke got them off to a flying start.

Watts extended Hawks’s advantage, but they were pegged back and Fareham levelled at 2-2.

However, second-half goals from Watts (2) and Cutter earned victory.

Newly-promoted Witney recorded their first victory of the MBBO Regional Division 1 season when beating Eastcote 4-1.

Ryan Fitz-John scored twice, while Ben Kirk and Rob Manson also netted.

Wallingford fought back from 2-0 down to earn a 2-2 draw at home to Reading 3rd.

Alun Lloyd and Dan Pilbeam were on target for the hosts, who remain unbeaten after two games.

James Cutter’s strike from a short corner proved the difference as Oxford earned a 1-0 win at Oxford University 2nd.

Katie Gatt scored two goals on her birthday to fire newly-promoted Witney to a 2-0 win against Brighton & Hove in Division 1 of the South Clubs’ Women’s League.

Kate Hicks netted on her debut but Oxford were held to a 1-1 draw at Hampstead & Westminster 2nd in Division 2.
