MIKE Duerden hit a hat-trick as Clanfield 85 breezed into the second round of the Bluefin Sports Challenge Cup with a 7-1 win at Old Bradwell United Dev.

Nathan Kimber (2), Jozef Fullerton and Jack Kennedy also scored in the one-sided tie.

But the Uhlsport Hellenic League Division 1 West team had to come from behind after Bradwell took the lead on 17 minutes when Nikita Suprun fired past goalkeeper Jamie Zolden.

Clanfield only trailed for two minutes, though, as Fullerton netted his fifth goal of the season.

The visitors then put the home side to the sword by adding a further three goals before the break, Duerden hitting a brace and Kimber making it 4-1 in first-half stoppage-time.

Duerden completed his hat-trick – his second in the space of four days – to rub further salt into the home side’s wounds.

Kimber added to his own tally to make it 6-1 on 59 minutes, before Kennedy completed the scoring with nine minutes to go.

Clanfield return to league action on Saturday when they host second-placed Cheltenham Saracens.

Division 2 West side Woodstock Town were also in action in the Challenge Cup, but were beaten 3-0 at home by Milton United.
