DIDCOT Town boss Andy Ballard is relishing tomorrow’s Evo-Stik South League derby clash at home to Thame United.

The Railwaymen head into the Division 1 Central fixture on the back of successive cup victories.

Didcot beat Thamesmead Town in the FA Trophy last weekend, and followed that up with a hard-fought 1-0 win over local rivals Kidlington in the Southern League Cup in midweek.

Manager Ballard says another derby against Thame is a mouth-watering prospect as they bid to move up the table after a September dominated by cup football.

He said: “It was great to bounce back after the disappointment of our FA Cup defeat with wins in the Trophy and the League Cup, but we now need to turn our attentions to the league.

“To have another home game against another local rival tomorrow is exciting, and it would be good to start climbing the table.”

Callum McNish (calf) is a doubt, as are Aaron and Matty Woodley, who both have slight knee problems.

However, Ballard has been boosted by the return of David Murphy, who scored in both cup wins after missing the first two months of the season.

The Didcot boss said: “It’s been a real bonus having David back.

“He’s been out injured since the start of the season, but he’s played in the last two games, scored twice and picked up man-of-the-match in both games.

“He’s a natural finisher and has scored goals where-ever he has played, so to have him back is a real boost.”

Thame return to action after a two-week break.

They drew 2-2 at Coleshill Town in their last outing, and boss Mark West admits it feels like the start of a new season.

“It’s been a disjointed September for us,” he said.

“Last week we were without a game because Bromsgrove were in the cup, so it’s been two weeks since we’ve played.

“Didcot have been in good form, and we will definitely be a bit rusty having not played for a couple of weeks.

“The only positive is it’s allowed a few niggles to clear up, so we are close to full strength.”

Dan James is suspended after his red card at Coleshill.

North Leigh joint manager Craig Dore has been encouraged by his side’s improvement ahead of their trip to Berkhamsted Town.

The Millers narrowly lost to AFC Dunstable last weekend and they are looking to arrest a four-match winless run in Hertfordshire.

Dore said: “Some of the football we played was the best we’ve had all season. We just made a couple of silly errors.

“But we have a young side, and if we can keep them together and consolidate, we will improve and become more clued up to this level.”

Ben Brown and Dan Newman return after missing last weekend’s game.

Kidlington entertain Sutton Coldfield Town, looking to build on their first win of the campaign against Aylesbury.

But Tommy Castle, Ben Willoughby, Jack Quanton and Liam Talboys are all unavailable for the bottom-of-the-table clash.

Kane Finney, Brandon Oddy, Ollie Stanbridge, Harry Whitehead and Jamie Calvin return, while Tom Franklin (back) and Joey Cowlishaw (dead leg) hope to prove their fitness.

In South Premier Division Central, Banbury United entertain Tamworth.

But they will be without Ravi Shamsi, whose loan from Maidenhead United has expired, while Jordy Ngathe has left the club.
