Saints duo Shane Long and Mo Elyounoussi shrugged off recent injuries to play most of their respective matches in the Uefa Nations League tonight.

Elyounoussi played 90 minutes before being taken off in injury time as Norway beat Slovenia in the Uefa Nations League.

The former Basel star fired wide in the first half and headed over in the second but Ole Selnaes found the top corner from a 20-yard strike in first-half injury time to ensure the home side beat their bottom-of-the-group opposition.

Elyounoussi was taken off in injury time but had his longest run out since the Carabao Cup win at Brighton more than six weeks ago, following his recent ankle injury.

Long was taken off after 83 minutes of Republic of Ireland's goalless draw against a Denmark side for whom Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Jannik Vestergaard were unused substitutes in Dublin.

Long impressed while ploughing a lone furrow. He provided the pass from which Cyrus Christie struck a fierce 20-yarder that was saved by Kasper Schmeichel.

He also won several free kicks while lacking the required support.
