KARL Robinson felt Oxford United should have won, but admitted his side were below par in their goalless draw against Forest Green Rovers.

It means the sides will meet again in Gloucestershire for the Emirates FA Cup first round replay, which is provisionally scheduled for Tuesday, November 20.

The only reason it would be moved is for television coverage, but that is distinctly unlikely after this drab clash.

Rovers, from Sky Bet League Two, created the clearest chances and hit the woodwork late on.

But while acknowledging United had fallen short of recent displays, Robinson still felt his side had done enough for victory.

He said: "I thought we should have won, but I didn’t think we were very good.

"They will talk about the two chances they had, but I think we had more crosses and more entries into their box."

He added: "It was almost like we felt so dominant we had to try to score the perfect goal.

"Shoot through bodies, ask a question of the goalkeeper.

"We tried to have that extra pass of a slowed speed and score a perfect goal, rather than be ruthless in the final third.

"If we were ruthless in the final third, we’d have won."

That was a view not shared by Rovers manager Mark Cooper.

He said: "I thought we acquitted ourselves really well.

"We had two brilliant chances to win it towards the end and I don’t think anyone would have quibbled if we had won it.

"We were fully respectful coming to a good League One team and haven’t looked out of place in my opinion."

Simon Eastwood thought United were flat and while there was little to get excited about, the result did at least keep them in Monday night's draw for the second round and extend their run without defeat to seven games.

He said: "It’s another clean sheet and the unbeaten run carries on.

"We knew it was going to be a tricky game. It’s a team from a lower league and everybody expects you to beat them, but they’re not doing badly.

"They created a couple of chances, but you can’t say it was a classic.

"To get the draw I think everyone’s a little disappointed to get a replay, but we’ll go there and try to get through to the next round."
