KIDLINGTON recorded a stunning 6-1 victory over Yaxely in Saturday’s Evo-Stik South League Division 1 Central clash.

But the superb success was not enough to move Julian McCalmon’s side off the foot of the table.

Kidlington went ahead in the 18th minute when Tommy Castle crossed for Anaclet Odhiambo to head home.

The same player made it 2-0 just past the half-hour, and things got even better two minutes later when Mark Janes made it 3-0 on his first game since returning to the club.

Yaxley pulled a goal back six minutes before half-time when Daniel Cotton curled home a free-kick.

But Kidlington put the game to bed in the 66th minute, Odhiambo turning home a Nick Thorne corner to complete his hat-trick.

Elliott Osborne-Ricketts made it 5-1 17 minutes from time, before substitute Joey Cowlishaw put the icing on the cake in the final minute.

Kidlington, however, remain bottom after fellow strugglers North Leigh picked up a first win in 12 games with a 4-1 away victory at Aylesbury United.

George Seacole fired the west Oxfordshire side ahead after just five minutes.

And a sensational first half display was completed when further strikes from Noah Alabi and Seacole put the visitors 3-0 ahead at the break.

Jack Tutton hit No 4 just before the hour mark, and although Aylesbury pulled a goal back when Tre Mitford scored, North Leigh easily held on for the three points.

Didcot Town collected a first league win since early October as they came from behind to beat Dunstable Town 2-1.

The Railwaymen, who gave debuts to midweek signings Greg Hackett and John Dennis, got off to a poor start when a kick from home goalkeeper Leigh Bedwell found Chris Wreh, and the opposition striker fired home from 35 yards.

Didcot continued to press forward in search of an equaliser and finally got their reward five minutes before the break when Brandon Taverner latched on to a long ball and shot through the legs of away goalkeeper James Connell and into the net.

Bedwell produced a stunning one-handed save from close range to deny Dunstable the lead just before half-time.

Despite dominating the second half, Didcot were frustrated in their bid to go in front.

But ten minutes from time they made the all-important breakthrough when substitute George Reid crossed for Seth Humphries to stab the winner.

Thame United made it a full house for Oxfordshire sides with a 3-1 victory at Corby Town.

Dan West fired the visitors in front five minutes before

half-time.

Lynton Goss doubled the advantage on 51 minutes and Thame soon went 3-0 ahead when Jamie Essex powered home a header.

West turned a shot from Sam Warburton into his own net to give the hosts some hope.

But they were unable to find another breakthrough as Thame comfortably saw out the remaining minutes.

  • TEN-MAN Banbury United scored a last-minute equaliser to draw 1-1 away to Coalville Town in their Premier Central match.

Mike Ford’s side have now won just once in 12 games, but did at least stop a

three-game losing streak in the league.

Ricky Johnson was their hero, his last-gasp header earning the Puritans a share of the spoils.

Giorgio Rasulo grazed a post early on for Banbury, but neither side was able to find the net before the break.

The game changed on the hour mark when Edmund Hottor, making his debut for Ford’s side, picked up a second yellow card.

Coalville took advantage of the extra man and went ahead on 70 minutes when Joe

Doyle-Charles volleyed into the bottom corner of the net.

But Banbury showed great determination and were rewarded in the final minute of normal time when Matt Taylor’s cross was met by Johnson to equalise.
