NORTH Leigh manager Craig Dore admits he was a relieved man after last week’s 4-1 victory at Aylesbury United ended a 12-game winless run.

The Millers had not won in the Evo-Stik South League since the August Bank Holiday, but produced an outstanding display.

And joint boss Dore wants more of the same when they travel to Welwyn Garden City in Division 1 Central tomorrow.

“It had been coming, but everything clicked on the day,” he said.

“New signings Harry and Alfie Grant really made an impact, and we were good value for our win.

“The important thing now is to string back to back performances and results together – it’s no good just having a one-off performance.

“My young players have done a lot of growing up over the last few weeks, and slowly the penny is dropping what they need to do to be successful in this league.”

George Seacole (hamstring) and Alfie Grant (ankle) went off last weekend, but should be fit.

Horatio Hirst remains sidelined with a torn hamstring.

Didcot Town boss Andy Ballard is looking to build on back-to-back wins when his side host Kempston Rovers.

A 2-1 home victory over Dunstable Town last Saturday was followed up with a success by the same scoreline at Barton Rovers on Wednesday, courtesy of goals from Brett Gardner and a last-minute thunderbolt from George Reid.

Ballard praised the contributions of debutants Greg Hackett and John Dennis last week, and feels Didcot can play with renewed confidence.

“Greg and John both played really well last week, giving the whole squad a real boost,” he said.

“Along with Brandon Taverner, who we’ve signed on loan from Oxford United, it gave us much more attacking threat.

“We now have real competition for places, which means players will need to perform well to keep their shirts.”

Thame United manager Mark West has been delighted with his side’s last two performances after taking four points against high-flying duo Corby Town (3-1) on Saturday and Bromsgrove Sporting (1-1) on Tuesday.

“The lads have been magnificent,” he remarked.

“It was two games where we had a right go at it, and did really well.”

Thame travel to Aylesbury tomorrow and West expects a tough test.

He said: “It’s a derby, everyone knows each other, so that will add a bit of extra spice.”

Aaron Jewell is suspended for three matches after being sent off last weekend at Corby, while Marcus Mealing has left to rejoin his old club Marlow.

Basement side Kidlington look to follow up last week’s stunning 6-1 win over Yaxley when they host Cambridge City.

Jack Quainton returns to the squad after suspension as Julian McCalmon’s team bid to close the gap on those above them in the table.
