SIMON Eastwood feels back in the groove after putting a rare sticky patch behind him last weekend.

The Oxford United goalkeeper will face Peterborough United tomorrow with confidence restored thanks to his display against Plymouth Argyle.

Eastwood made one particularly important save with the U’s 1-0 up in the Emirates FA second round tie, which they went on to win 2-1.

It ended a testing week for the 29-year-old, who had conceded two soft goals in the 4-2 win against Rochdale, following on from an error in the 2-0 defeat at Bradford City.

Eastwood’s notable mistakes in his two and a half years at United could arguably be counted on the fingers of one hand, so the stopper was delighted to restore normal service in Devon.

He said: “I do keep my standards high and to let two sloppy goals in is maybe a little bit unlike me, but winning that game was the most important thing.

“It’s not like many people talk about errors when you do win a game, but I said ‘thank you’ to the lads afterwards.

“From a personal point of view, it was good to get the next match out of the way and to have a decent

game.

“If you make a mistake, it knocks your confidence a little bit, so to get back out there and make a couple of saves is good.”

Eastwood is likely to be kept busy tomorrow afternoon.

Only Sunderland and Luton Town have scored more goals in Sky Bet League One this season than Peterborough.

Forwards Matt Godden, Ivan Toney and Jason Cummings have netted 29 times in all competitions so far.
