CRICKET: Witney Swifts will be fielding three senior teams for the first time in 2019.
Their 3rd XI will be in Division 7 (North) of the OCA League.
It follows on from a successful 2018 for the club, who won the Division 1 title, Airey Cup and Tony Pullinger T20 Cup.
The 2nd XI also had a year to remember, clinching the
Division 6 crown and claiming the Steve Dixon Memorial Cup.
As a result, they have been moved up to Division 4.
Swifts are also setting up a youth team next season.
RACING: Diger Daudaie made the 494-mile round trip from Charlie Longsdon’s Chipping Norton stables to Newcastle worthwhile with a hard-fought victory.
The five-year-old, bought for £48,000 after dead-heating in an Irish point-to-point in February, rallied in determined fashion to beat Bubbles Of Gold by a length in a two-mile-and-six-furlong novices’ hurdle under Jonathan Burke.
