OXFORD United’s under 18s will renew their rivalry with Bournemouth tonight as they meet in the FA Youth Cup.
The U’s pipped the Cherries to the EFL Youth Alliance South West title last week.
After a thrilling 3-3 draw last month, they meet at Court Place Farm this evening (7) for a fourth-round tie.
United’s young guns knocked out Burnley last month to reach the last-32, matching the club’s best run in recent seasons.
And whoever gets through will land a home tie in the fifth round against Aston Villa, who beat Reading last night.
Leon Blackmore-Such, who coaches the U’s under 18s with Chris Hackett, said: “I think Bournemouth will feel the same as us – that it’s a great opportunity to get into the fifth round.
“Do we have the players to do it? Yes, if we turn up on the night.
“The last game with them was great and hopefully it’s a similar entertainment for the neutral, but from my point of view it’s hopefully straightforward.
“The fans have been really positive of the boys, so I’m hoping they can come out and support them.”
