"My young guns are still fighting," says North Leigh joint boss Craig Dore

They host fellow Division 1 Central strugglers Welwyn Garden City after stunning play-off hopefuls Coleshill Town.

The 4-0 victory helped the Millers close to within six points of safety with five games to go in the Evo-Stik South League.

Joint boss Dore, who names an unchanged squad, is under no illusions his side can ill-afford to drop points this weekend.

He said: “Time is running out fast, but we still have an outside chance and my young guns are still fighting.

“Although it was a great result last week, all we have done is given ourselves half a chance, but at least we still have that hope.”

The Millers are one short of conceding 100 league goals and Dore knows his side need to tighten up at the back.

He said: “We’ve had no problems going forward all season, and Henry (Landers) is in great form with 12 goals in his last 12 games.

“But conceding has been our problem all season, and we need to defend for our lives.

“If we can win tomorrow, maybe the great escape is on.”

Didcot Town bid to re-ignite their play-off push at Kempston Rovers.

Despite back-to-back defeats, the Railwaymen remain in the top five.

Andy Ballard, who names an unchanged squad, believes he saw enough from his side in the loss to Bromsgrove Sporting to not be too concerned.

He said: “We were very unlucky not to get anything from the game. It was really important to put in a performance following the defeat at Berkhamsted, and I was pleased with our reaction.

“Although we lost the game, we can take heart from the performance, and if we can play like that for our last five games, a play-off place is in our own hands.”

Thame United boss Mark West has paid tribute to Finlay Murray, who ruptured his spleen playing for the reserves.

The young defender, who has made several appearances for the first team, was rushed to Stoke Mandeville Hospital for emergency surgery.

West, whose side face Aylesbury this weekend, said: “It was a horrible injury for the lad. He’s a terrific young player with a really bright future.

“The thoughts of the whole club are with him. We went to see him after his surgery and he was still quite unwell, but thankfully now he is on the mend.

“I know he will come through this and soon be back in a Thame shirt – he’s got a great future.”

Meanwhile, West admits his side’s play-off bid is faltering, but he insists they won’t give up.

Thame lost 3-1 at Bedford last weekend and are now four points adrift of the top five.

He said: “Bedford were better than us on the day, but we didn’t have a lot of luck.

“We’ve got five games left and I think we need to win all five to have a chance.”

Kidlington will be hoping to bounce back when they travel to Cambridge City.

Julian McCalmon’s side remain three points above the drop zone.

Banbury United boss Mike Ford says he has learned from a challenging season.

The Puritans all-but secured their Division 1 Central status with a crucial win over St Neots.

The combination of a four-point deduction for fielding an ineligible player and poor form had seen Banbury slip down the table.

But Ford, whose side face Kings Lynn Town, is looking forward.

He said: “The four-point loss had a massive impact on us. In a very short space of time, our aims and goals were taken away from us.

“It’s something I have learned from. I don’t ever want to be in that position again.”

Edmund Hottor (suspension) and Lee Henderson (concussion) return to the squad this weekend.

Ford added: “Kings Lynn will be a tough game, they are an excellent side with a good manager.

"It’s good to have these players back as it will enable us to have more balance and add a bit of competition for places.”
