OXFORD United have taken up a six-month option on Aaron Heap’s contract.

The 18-year-old has been a regular in the under 23 side this season.

He also has two senior appearances to his name, making his first-team debut at Wycombe Wanderers in the Checkatrade Trophy in November.

Heap’s performances have also seen the midfielder picked for the Wales under 21 squad.

Meanwhile, left back Matt Taylor will not be offered a new deal when his contract runs out in the summer.

The former Wigan Athletic trainee impressed while on trial with the U’s and has played regularly for the under 23s.

Taylor has also been on loan at Evo-Stik South League side Banbury United.
