OXFORD United are scouting transfer targets at a prestigious youth tournament in France this week.

The club had a representative at the early matches of the Maurice Revello Toulon Tournament.

And head coach Karl Robinson is due in Provence for the latter stages to have a final look at players on their summer hit-list.

He said: “We do have targets who are playing in the tournament.

“I’m getting there for the semi-finals and the play-offs.

“It will be an opportunity to run my eye over some fantastic reports we’ve got on some very talented young players.”

England’s Under 20 side finished their campaign in the ninth-place play-off against Guatemala last night.

Of the semi-finalists, the most relevant to United’s search are likely to be the Republic of Ireland Under 21s, who take on Brazil Under 22s today.

Robinson said in April he had links with their coaching set-up and they had sent scouts across the Irish Sea to watch players.

United have had a quiet summer in the transfer market, but they are believed to be close to tying up moves for a couple of players.
