DIDCOT marched on at the top of Division 1 as they beat the weather and eased past Shipton-under-Wychwood by 102 runs.

The summer deluge decimated much of the weekend’s action, but of those games that did escape the rain, there were some notable results.

Didcot’s victory ensured they maintained their 100 per cent record after six games.

After being inserted, they declared on 228-5 from 46 overs as Vishane Perera hit 96 not out and Patrick Foster 55. Shaun Miller taking 4-74 for Shipton.

The visitors then saw their sorry season continue when slumping to 126 all out, Andy Hemming top-scoring with 52 as Foster claimed 4-25.

Tiddington fell to a four-wicket defeat at Great Brickhill.

The visitors posted 203-6, Nick Pykett hitting 47 not out and Will Cooper 45.

Former England Under 19 batsman Mark Nelson then struck 88 as Brickhill reached the target with two overs to spare.

Twyford had to settle for a draw at home to Long Marston.

The in-form Shabaaz Alam hit 86, Jake Duxbury 75 and Atif Ali 64 not out to allow the hosts to declare on 293-3.

Westbury’s home game with Abingdon Vale was abandoned after just 12 overs with the visitors on 19-2, while Cumnor’s trip to Buckingham Town 2nd was washed out without a ball being bowled.

There was an extraordinary finish in Division 2 at Bledlow Village, where Bicester & North Oxford ran out winners by one wicket in a low-scoring affair.

Bicester skipper Ryan Moore inserted the hosts and, with Matt Woods (5-20) and Ben Clark (4-20) in form, they skittled their rivals for just 61 in 26.2 overs.

The visitors appeared to be cruising to victory as they reached 38-0 but lost nine wickets for 18 runs to slump to 56-9, Dave Pearce running through the card with 6-33.

However, brothers Ben and Dan Clark held their nerve to score the remaining runs to wrap up a remarkable victory.

The only other game to survive the rain was at Leighton Buzzard, who beat Wolverton Town by 47 runs.

Tom Light hit 90 in Buzzard’s 212-7, and then Dan Scott claimed 5-49 as Wolverton were all out for 165 in the 40th over.

Great & Little Tew hammered Abingdon Vale 2nd by 161 runs.

Sam Barnes hit 88 and Toby Parker 65 to help Tew to 244 all out, despite the rapid Charlie Pickford taking a career-best 7-36.

Vale were no match for the bowling of Parker (4-15) and Jack Belmont (4-17) as they slumped to 83 all out.

Tiddington 2nd drew their home match with Brackley.

Dan West (51) and Jordan Davis (46) helped the hosts to 179-6 in their 53 overs.
