KIT Cutter struck late on to salvage a 2-2 draw for Oxford Hawks at home to nine-man Oxted.

The winless hosts would arguably have settled for a point before the game against the Men’s Hockey League Division 1 South high-fliers.

But for the second week running a point felt like a missed opportunity, this time with their opponents losing two men in the closing stages.

Oxted led before the break, but Jack Biggs levelled on 51 minutes after Ted Bennett’s shot was spilled.

Hawks’ hopes were boosted when they gained a numerical advantage, but instead the visitors went ahead from a penalty corner.

Cutter deflected in a Noah Francis shot to spare the home side’s blushes, but they remain bottom.

Oxford OBU made it five wins out of five to stay top in the Premier 2 West of the South League.

Will Heywood and Robin de Boer scored two goals each, while Henry Vallis also notched in a 5-2 victory at Tulse Hill & Dulwich.

Witney secured a second successive MBBO Regional 1 clash triumph, this time 4-2 at Aylesbury, despite being down to nine men at one stage.

Ollie Hartley scored twice, either side of goals from Harry Harbage and Ben Kirk.

Oxford Hawks drew a blank at home to Basingstoke in the Investec Women’s Conference West.

There was just one short corner in a tight match, where the hosts’ best chances came late on.

Witney twice came from behind to beat East Grinstead 2nd 3-2 in the South League Division 1.

Abi Flory came up with the first equaliser, while Millie Hartnell made it 2-2.

And after forcing a short corner in the final seconds, Hayley Dobson slammed in the winner.

Oxford are now three points clear in Division 2 after inflicting a first defeat on rivals Eastbourne 3rd.

Millie Berndes-Cade, Kim Warman and Alex Medlicott scored in the 3-1 success.
