WILL Heywood was the star of the show to continue Oxford OBU’s perfect form this season.

He scored four times in a 5-4 victory at home to Henley,

Zum Akhter completed the scoring for a sixth successive win which kept them two points clear in Premier Division 2 West of the South Hockey League.

Witney are three games unbeaten in MBBO Regional 1, but were frustrated with a 3-3 draw at home to Oxford University 2nd.

The home side took charge in the first half, reaching the break 2-0 up thanks to a brace of strikes from Tim Chilvers at short corners.

While the students pulled a goal back, Jacob Deacon restored the two-goal advantage.

But the University finished strongly and claimed a point thanks to two late short corners.

Jake Lamplough, Milan Pache and Ben Seymour were on target.

A dramatic finish saw Witney climb to second in Division 1 of the South Clubs’ Women’s League after a 3-2 home win against Reading 2nd.

The visitors, who had won just once this season, made the perfect start by opening the scoring in the first five minutes.

Witney hit back and after Abi Flory had a goal disallowed, Millie Hartwell got them back on level terms.

When Reading edged ahead again it was beginning to look like a lost cause for the hosts.

Another goal was chalked off, while Amy Williams received a green card.

But the pressure eventually told in the final ten minutes, when Sadie Lapper deflected Flory’s shot in for an equaliser.

And a flowing move in the closing stages was finished off by a diving shot from Helen Backhouse to claim the winner.

Oxford stayed top in Division 2, but they were held 2-2 at PHC Chiswick.

After falling behind at a corner, Rachel Lammey’s strike sent the sides in level at the break.

Milly Berndes-Cade put Oxford ahead, but they conceded an equaliser towards the end.
