TRANMERE Rovers chairman Mark Palios says his framework for finishing the EFL season "reflects the wishes of the majority of clubs".

The League One strugglers' proposal adds a margin of error to the unweighted points-per-game method, with teams only automatically going up or down if they remain in a promotion or relegation position once that margin is applied.

Tranmere would be relegated if the season was decided on unweighted points per game alone, but Palios's framework would give more clubs the chance to compete in the play-offs if they wished.

Palios told the PA news agency: "We're trying to effect a compromise as close to the EFL's position but iterate our original proposal to reflect the wishes of the majority of clubs and achieve a fairer solution that football people will recognise as such."

The EFL framework includes promotion and relegation, keeping the play-offs to four teams and deciding the final league table on an unweighted points-per-game basis.

Ex-FA chief executive Palios has indicated Tranmere will submit their proposal to the EFL ahead of tomorrow's 2pm deadline.

The EFL has called a meeting of clubs for June 8, where its proposed framework and any alternative models will be voted on by all 71 members.

There is still no consensus in League One, with Tranmere and Oxford United among nine teams who appear to favour completing the final nine matches of the season.

League Two sides have indicated a wish to end the campaign without relegation, while the EFL yesterday announced a provisional restart date of June 20 for the Championship.
