THE EFL is a step closer to introducing salary caps after the number of clubs required to approve the changes was reduced.
A resolution was passed at yesterday's annual general meeting bringing the majority of teams needed to vote in favour down from 75 per cent to a two-thirds majority.
The EFL is currently comprised of 71 teams, so this would push the number of clubs required to approve Financial Fair Play rule changes from 54 to 48.
Salary caps of £2.5m in Sky Bet League One, including all player costs, have already been discussed and the plans could be voted on before the start of next season, according to The Times.
