GOALS from Michael Elechi, Slavi Spasov and Dylan Asonganyi gave Oxford United Under 21s a deserved victory over AFC Bournemouth in the Central League Cup.
Most of the action came in a thrilling first half as a U’s team featuring seven players with first-team experience created a hatful of chances.
Leon Chambers-Parillon and Spasov had already forced the Cherries keeper into saves when Jack Stevens was tripped in the penalty box, with Elechi converting.
Bournemouth equalised five minutes later through Jordan Zemura, but United regained the lead seven minutes before the break as Asonganyi curled home.
Spasov headed the U’s into a two-goal lead just before the break, while a second-half red card saw Bournemouth finish the game with ten men.
