JUST one Sky Bet League One side has had to deal with more postponements than Oxford United in 2020/21.

The U’s game at Northampton Town on Saturday was called off due to a waterlogged pitch, meaning they will have to rearrange a sixth fixture this season – none of them through their own making.

It is the joint second-highest number in the division alongside Doncaster Rovers, with Accrington Stanley out in front on seven.

Excluding fixtures that have been postponed twice – like United’s home games against Crewe Alexandra and Doncaster Rovers – there have been 46 matches called off already in this League One campaign.

While the majority of those were related to coronavirus, some were due to international call-ups or one side being in Emirates FA Cup action.

The only club who have not yet had any postponements are Burton Albion, who, ironically, are bottom of the table with just 16 points from 24 games.

Gillingham, Milton Keynes Dons and Plymouth Argyle share the next-lowest total, with just two matches each.

At the other end of the scale, eight teams have seen at least five games postponed since September.

Shrewsbury Town’s clash with leaders Lincoln City was the only other League One match called off at the weekend, due to a Covid outbreak in the Shropshire side’s camp.
