TWO of Oxford United's Sky Bet League One promotion rivals have parted company with their managers.

Darren Moore has this morning left sixth-placed Doncaster Rovers to take charge of Sheffield Wednesday.

The switch has materialised rapidly, with the Championship strugglers only making an approach to speak to Moore on Friday, according to the Doncaster Free Press.

Rovers' last victory under the former West Bromwich Albion centre back was the 3-2 victory over United at the Keepmoat Stadium on February 6.

Andy Butler, who played at centre back against the U's, has been appointed manager until the end of the season.

Meanwhile, Paul Lambert has left Ipswich Town by mutual consent.

The eighth-placed Tractor Boys, who are one position above United, are rumoured to be close to a takeover by an American-led consortium.

Lambert's penultimate home game in charge was the 0-0 draw against the U's nine days ago.

Ex-Wigan Athletic boss Paul Cook is rumoured to be in advanced talks to take over at Portman Road.
