EDDIE Pepperell followed a stunning start with a solid opening round at the abrdn Scottish Open.
The Abingdon golfer began at the par-five tenth and promptly holed an eagle, although he then bogeyed the 11th.
It set the Frilford Heath member on the way to a one-under par 70 at The Renaissance Club, North Berwick, where he tied for ninth last year.
Pepperell's exciting start was followed by a pleasingly consistent string of holes.
Playing alongside Scottish golfer David Law and Frenchman Antoine Rozner, he claimed eight successive pars before a bogey at the par-four second.
Another dropped shot at the sixth was sandwiched by birdies at the fifth and seventh towards the end of his round.
Pepperell tees off at the later time of 1.50pm tomorrow.
