GATLIN O’Donkor’s double helped Oxford United Under 19s complete an unbeaten pre-season with a 5-2 win at Thame United.

The 16-year-old striker found the net either side of the break, with Adam Smith, Will Owens and an own goal completing the scoring for the U’s.

Greg Hackett and Lynton Goss were on target for the hosts to leave the sides locked at 2-2 at half-time, before United made the game safe early in the second period.

It made it five wins out of six for the youngsters, giving them plenty of momentum going into the start of the season.

United were captained by Tyler Goodrham, with O'Donkor, Smith and Ben Watt also involved.

They took the lead after ten minutes when a sliding defender turned an Owens cross into his own net, but Thame responded well.

Eddie Brearey made a good save from Goss, only for Hackett to equalise ten minutes before the break.

It kicked-off an action-packed end to the half as United immediately restored the lead through O’Donkor, who finished smartly from the edge of the penalty area.

Tempers soon flared as a mass brawl erupted following a bad challenge and Thame were quickest to get their heads back in the game, with Goss levelling the scores.

United stepped up a gear after the break, though, and were home and dry within 15 minutes of the restart.

Owens was involved in all three goals, first crossing for Smith and then seeing his centre turned back into the danger area by Enrique Tiamuna for O’Donkor to finish.

The forward soon had a deserved goal of his own, firing home from inside the box to end the game as a contest.
