JORDANNE Whiley is guaranteed her best result at a Paralympics after reaching the wheelchair women’s doubles final.
The 29-year-old and long-time partner Lucy Shuker beat Chinese duo Ziying Wang and Zhenzhen Zhu 6-4, 6-2 at Tokyo 2020.
The No 2 pair, who won bronze at the last two Games, play Dutch top seeds Diede de Groot and Aniek van Koot in Saturday’s gold-medal match.
Whiley, who lives in Steventon, said: “I was only 20 in London and we were quite inexperienced as a pair.
“In Rio, we weren’t in a great place.
“Now we’re older and wiser and we’ve played for almost 12 years together, so I feel like now is our time.”
Before the Games, Whiley targeted a first Paralympics singles medal and she is one win away.
The 13-time Grand Slam winner lost 6-4, 6-2 to de Groot in her semi-final and plays van Koot for bronze tomorrow.
