Oxford City will not be repeating their Emirates FA Cup heroics of recent years after falling victim to an upset at Frome Town, WRITES GEORGE RICKWOOD.

The Pitching In Southern League Division 1 South outfit caught the visitors cold with goals from James Ollis and Joe O’Loughlin.

A City fightback saw Elliot Benyon score with 15 minutes to go, but it was to no avail.

David Oldfield’s side had the ball in the net on eight minutes, but Joe Iaciofano’s celebrations were cut short by the offside flag.

After soaking up City’s early dominance, Frome got a grip on the game and went ahead.

O’Loughlin headed down to Ollis, who still had a bit to do, but he beat a defender and coolly found the net to give the home side an unlikely lead.

Frome goalkeeper James Cary blocked Harvey Bradbury's effort from a George Harmon cross in between Frome’s goals and their second soon followed.

With City searching for an instant equaliser, the hosts used the counter well and were left with far too much space. Rex Mannings put O’Loughlin through to tuck home and send the Frome faithful into raptures.

The Vanarama National League South side started the second half well, with Iaciofano going close twice. However, they were not dominant, by any stretch, and their solitary goal ultimately came too late.

Harry Kyprianou’s ball in was met by Benyon, who powered it past Carey.

City pressed for an equaliser, but Frome’s defence was resolute and they secured their place in today's third qualifying round draw.

They will be joined by Banbury United, who beat Nantwich Town 2-1 courtesy of Sam Brown’s late strike.

The left back fired home with two minutes of normal time remaining to complete the Puritans turnaround.

Morgan Roberts had earlier equalised four minutes before the break.

Meanwhile, North Leigh are three points clear at the top of Pitching In Southern League Division 1 Central after a 2-0 home win over St Neots Town.

Luke Carnell and Jenson Wright got the goals.

Kidlington claimed their first victory of the season as Steve Robertson’s double and Connor Mattimore’s strike sealed a 3-1 victory over Barton Rovers.

Didcot Town lost 2-0 at Kempston Rovers.
