EUROPE’S top motocross riders speed into Oxfordshire this weekend to get their 2022 season under way.

Culham MX Park, near Abingdon, hosts the first round of the Revo ACU British Championship on Saturday and Sunday for what promises to be an adrenaline-filled 48 hours.

The best youth and adult riders from the UK and Europe are set to compete in a thrilling set of races across the challenging circuit, located on the grassy banks of the River Thames behind Culham Science Centre.

The venue opened the British series in 2017, 2018 and 2021, so has become the go-track to get the championship up and running.

Riders from just six-years-old to over 30 will race in their respective classes, based on bike capacity and age brackets.

Spectators will get the chance to see competitors in the paddock, while other activities include special team signings.

The high-energy sport sees riders battle it out on off-road tracks containing steep uphill and downhill grades, long jumps and muddy or gravel-like terrain.

Motocross is incredibly physically demanding, despite relatively short races of 30 minutes or less.

After this weekend’s action in Culham, competitors will travel to venues across the UK as they continue their quest to be crowned winner of their respective classes.

The final round is due to take place in September.

It is the only officially-recognised British title and is a pathway for riders to progress to European and World Championship level.

The British Championship dates back to 1951 and has grown to become the best domestic series in Europe.
