OISIN Smyth played 90 minutes as Northern Ireland Under 21s ended their Euro 2023 qualifying campaign with a 1-1 draw in Lithuania.

The Oxford United midfielder started at centre back in a 3-5-2 formation and took the captain’s armband when Ethan Galbraith was substituted late on.

Dale Taylor put Northern Ireland ahead after 17 minutes and the visitors were good value for their lead, although they needed a goal-line clearance from Smyth in the closing stages.

But John Schofield's side conceded from Lithuania's last attack as Artemijus Tutyskinas bundled home following a free-kick deep in stoppage-time.

The result left Northern Ireland fourth in Group C ahead of the evening game between Spain and Malta.

This afternoon, Ben Davis will aim to help Thailand Under 23s progress at the Asian Cup.

The Oxford United midfielder will hope to be involved in the Group C clash with South Korea, which starts at 2pm BST.

Thailand lead the standings on goal difference, with their opponents second, as they look to qualify for the quarter-finals.
