FORMER Oxford United striker Jefferson Louis has left North Leigh.

The 43-year-old signed off in style last season, scoring two stoppage-time goals to win the Pitching In Southern League Division 1 Central play-off final.

North Leigh beat Ware 4-2 to clinch promotion to step three of non-league for the first time in their history.

It was another twist in the forward’s incredible career, which has seen him play for 41 clubs in 26 years.

Millers manager Eddie Odhiambo paid tribute to Louis, who joined last October but departs due to ‘work commitments’.

He told North Leigh’s website: “Jeff entered another chapter in his football story by playing a significant role in the club’s promotion campaign.

“His two winning goals in the play-off final are etched into the club’s history.

“Even more prominent though, is the lasting imprint Jeff will have on his teammates.

“The boys have benefitted from, and added to Jeff’s experience.

“I personally wish him all the best going forward. He has too much to offer for North Leigh to be his last club as a player, and so much to offer beyond playing to younger players and clubs.

“Well done and a huge thank you to a certified legend.”

Louis played for United between 2002 and 2004, scoring ten goals in 64 games.
