TWO key players will leave Oxford United Women this summer.

Beth Lumsden and Kayleigh Hines are set to depart the club after contrasting seasons in 2021/22.

Lumsden joined the club from Charlton Athletic last summer and struck 27 goals in 33 games to finish as United’s top-scorer.

Hines, who re-joined the U’s from Reading in 2017, broke her leg at Portsmouth and missed the first half of the campaign.

United Women manager Liam Gilbert paid tribute to the pair as they both prepare for a new challenge.

“They have both been brilliant for us,” he told the club’s official website.

“It was such a boost to get Kayleigh back with us for a second spell and she is a wonderful role model for any players starting out in the women’s game.

“Beth had an outstanding season last year and was our top scorer with 27 goals in 33 games, and again, she has been a pleasure to work with.

“I know it has been a tough decision for them because they have loved being here, but both have now made up their minds to move on and they do so with all our best wishes.

“At the same time we are making our own plans and will be back for pre-season next week, ready for another successful season.”

Lumsden dropped down a level to join the U's from FA Women's Championship outfit Charlton and showed her class in a prolific season.

The striker's goals helped United finish second in FA Women’s National League Southern Premier, while she made national headlines when she started training with the men's side late last year.

It was part of an attempt to bring the different U's teams closer together, with Gilbert's squad now regularly training at Oxford Sports Park.

Hines re-signed for United in 2017 after two seasons with Women's Super League 1 side Reading.

The midfielder has been a key figure since then and won the player’s player of the year and fan’s goal of the year awards in 2019/20.
